Tipps zur Nutzung mobiler Festplatten

1. Die nutzbare Kapazität aller Festplatten nach der Formatierung beträgt 93 %.

Freunde bemängeln oft, dass die Speicherkapazität ihrer mobilen Festplatte nicht ausreicht. Das liegt tatsächlich an den unterschiedlichen Berechnungsmethoden der Hersteller und der Computersysteme. Da die Einheit der Rechenleistung in einem Computer Bit ist, entspricht ein Kilobyte (K) laut Computeralgorithmus 1024, also …

1 GB = 1024 × 1024 × 1024 Bit = 1073741824 Bit. Der Standardalgorithmus für die Festplattenproduktion ist 1000 pro K:

1 GB = 1000 × 1000 × 1000 Bit = 1000000000 Bit

Mit anderen Worten: Die vom Hersteller berechnete Kapazität beträgt tatsächlich 93 % der Rechenkapazität des Computers.

Beispiel: Kauft man eine 80-GB-Festplatte, dann sollte die Kapazität laut Berechnungsmethode des Herstellers folgendermaßen lauten:

80 GB x 93 % = 74,4 GB

Darüber hinaus kann es aufgrund der unterschiedlichen Herstellungsverfahren der einzelnen Hersteller bei Festplatten zu geringfügigen Abweichungen der tatsächlich berechneten Kapazität kommen, die sich in etwa in diesem Bereich bewegen.

2. Verwenden Sie einen rückseitigen USB-Anschluss bei Desktop-Computern.

Mangelnde Stromversorgung ist der Hauptgrund, warum viele mobile Festplatten nicht erkannt werden. Verwenden Sie keine Verlängerungskabel oder Hubs. Einige Desktop-Computer nutzen hauptsächlich die USB-Schnittstelle auf der Rückseite des Gehäuses. Die USB-Schnittstelle auf der Vorderseite entspricht lediglich einem USB-Verlängerungskabel und liefert möglicherweise nicht genügend Strom. Bei unzureichender Stromversorgung verschlechtert sich die Lese- und Schreibleistung der Festplatte, was die Hauptursache für Datenverlust ist. Lesen oder schreiben Sie in diesem Fall keine Dateien.

3. Nach Gebrauch sicher verlassen.

Nachdem die mobile Festplatte an den Computer angeschlossen wurde, erscheint in der Taskleiste unten rechts ein Plug-and-Play-Gerät. Schließen Sie vor dem Entfernen des Geräts unbedingt alle Programme und Dateien, die mit der Hardware zusammenhängen. Klicken Sie auf das Plug-and-Play-Gerät unten rechts, wählen Sie „Löschen“ für die mobile Festplatte und bestätigen Sie die Auswahl. (Hinweis: Bei manchen Computern kann es aufgrund von System- und Softwareproblemen zu Problemen beim Entfernen der Hardware kommen. In diesem Fall kann die Festplatte nur entfernt werden. Schließen Sie sie anschließend wieder an, um die Position des Lesekopfs wiederherzustellen.)

4. Nicht bewegen oder während der Benutzung anfassen.

Die mobile Festplatte ist ein „mobiles Speichermedium“, aber die interne Festplatte läuft sowohl im Betrieb als auch nach dem Ausschalten mit hoher Geschwindigkeit. Legen Sie sie während des Betriebs möglichst flach hin und bewegen Sie sie nicht. Es ist strengstens verboten, die mobile Festplatte während des Betriebs umzudrehen! Bewegen Sie die Festplatte nach dem Ausbau nicht innerhalb kurzer Zeit, um eine Beschädigung des Magnetkopfes zu vermeiden.

5. Stürze verhindern

Eine mobile Festplatte ist kein USB-Stick. Achten Sie darauf, dass das Gehäuse der mobilen Festplatte nicht anstößt oder herunterfällt, da sonst die Festplatte beschädigt werden kann.
